On August 17, 2002, 48 alumni and their guests enjoyed
a trip on the Erie Canal aboard the City of Syracuse.
The group boarded the boat near Syracuse, went through
a lock, and were treated to a champagne dinner cruise
that included sunset over Onondaga Lake.
Earlier in the day, 20 of the alums participated in
a bike trip along the old Erie Canal just east of Syracuse.
Braving 90 degree heat, the bicyclists pedaled10 miles
down the scenic, 19th century waterway to the Chittenango
Landing Canal Boat Museum and a brief tour. Then they
pedaled the 10 miles back and joined the group at the
dock for the dinner cruise.
There was so much enthusiasm, plans are already underway
for next year's Cruise and Trek in August, a chance
to bike another route in central New York.
