It was the public relations classes
in her communications major at BCC that helped Jackie
Fortier (’99) realize that she loved the field
of PR. This year she was promoted to the position of
national sales representative for DK Publishing, a high-quality
graphic book line, part of Penguin-Putnam Publishing.
Jackie began her career right at the Penguin Putnam
Inside Sales office in Kirkwood, and then moved to New
York City with the company. Now she lives in NJ, commuting
to her office on Hudson Street and traveling across
the country to visit clients in places like Dallas and
Portland about every third week.
“Sales
is mainly PR,” Jackie said. “It’s about
the relationship you have with the clients, and I really
enjoy interacting with people.”
