Jarome Hawkins (96), drew on what he learned in
his BCC communications courses to develop his audio
production business, Hawkeye Productions, in Los Angeles.
His company did the audio for an independent film and
is in the process of selling a cartoon to the WB Network.
Its
great to see my production go from my bedroom (where
his audio studio is) to the big screen.
He
has diversified in the years that he has been in California,
doing all sorts of projects from the sound track for
film and radio productions to the telephone message
that a company plays while putting customers on hold.
He
is eager and motivated. Im producing all
the time, always building my library.
There
are tons of people here, trying to break in. Its
how you position yourself that gets you the job,
he said, adding that he has learned all aspects of production
from writing to camera work. He is always passing out
his business card, networking everywhere.
"There
is no room for slackers here, " he said.
