BCC alumni took a special opportunity
to say goodbye to Angelo Zuccolo, the backbone of the
BCC Theatre program for over 30 years.
A special alumni gathering this spring.
On April 30, alumni gathered at a wine and cheese reception
on the evening of one of his last performances, A Comedy
Weekend.
Faculty, staff and former students
were there, spanning the many decades of his work at
BCC. Old Theatre/BCC posters adorned the walls and playbills
were scattered on the tables, inspiring alumni recollections
of their BCC years in the Little Theatre under Angelo's
guidance.
Alumni who had not participated in
theatre enjoyed the evening's theatre performance and
reception as a chance to reconnect with their BCC friends
and re-visit the campus.
Angelo greeted over 60 guests, many
of whom were previous theatre students and had not seen
him in years, and then left to prepare for the evening's
performance. The Little Theatre erupted in laughter
as Angelo made 7 cameo appearances in the group of four
short plays that made up the evening's program. One
character required that he wear a dress, another an
electrician's belt and another, a fluffly bathrobe.
However, it was his last appearance as a bird where
he said his goodbye, leaving BCC in a rustle of feathers,
after shooting the hunter who was so intent on stopping
him. Those who were there will remember his haunting
last line: "And the Bird
he flew away."
