Donor Profile
“Deputy Kevin Tarsia Memorial Scholarship”

The Broome County Sheriff’s Association with generous donations contributed by its members, has established an endowment at the BCC Foundation in honor of one of its fallen officers. The $1,000 “Deputy Kevin Tarsia Memorial Scholarship” was awarded for the first time in May and will continue to assist BCC Criminal Justice students with their education into the future.

Deputy Kevin Tarsia was the first deputy from Broome County Sheriff’s Office to be killed in the line of duty since the agency was created in 1806.  He had been employed with the Broome County Sheriff’s Office for 13 years.

The Broome County Law Enforcement Officers’ Association has established a scholarship in Kevin’s name.  The goal is to assist a Broome County resident to pursue a career in the field of Criminal Justice and recognize Kevin’s commitment to his career, community and family.  He is greatly missed by those whose lives he touched.
