It is the intent
of the College to comply and enforce the provisions of Public Health Law
Article 21, Title IV, Section 2165-Immunization: All students born on
or after January 1, 1957 and registering for 6 or more credits and attending
New York State colleges/universities EXCEPT for students registered for
courses EXCLUSIVELY on the Internet are required to show proof of immunity
against measles, mumps, and rubella prior to attending first day of classes.
Proof of immunity to measles
means that the student must have had TWO doses of LIVE measles vaccine
on or after one's first birthday and at least 30 days apart, OR physician
documented history of having had the disease, OR serological evidence
of immunity.
Proof of rubella means that
the student must provide proof of having one dose of Rubella vaccine on
or after one's first birthday, OR serological evidence of immunity. History
of having had the disease does not confer immunity.
Proof of mumps immunity means
one dose of mumps vaccine on or after one's first birthday, OR a physician's
documented history of having had the disease, OR serological evidence
of immunity.
AMENDMENTS MADE TO INITIAL
MMR IMMUNIZATION REGULATIONS:
If a student is unable to access
their immunization record from their medical provider or previous school
attended, DOCUMENTATION that the student attended a primary or secondary
school in the United States after 1980 will be sufficient proof that the
student received ONE DOSE of LIVE MEASLES VACCINE. If this option is used,
then the second measles vaccine (an MMR) must have been given WITHIN one
year of attendance at the post-secondary institute.
If a student was HONORABLY
DISCHARGED from the armed services WITHIN 10 years of date of application
to the College proof of such shall qualify as a certificate PENDING actual
receipt of immunization records from the armed services.
Students registered to attend
classes must be excluded from classes if they are not "in process"
meaning that one has received one dose of MMR WITHIN 30 days of attending
the first day of classes and have an appropriately spaced appointment
of 30 days with a health-care provider to receive a booster dose of measles.
If a student transfers from out of state, or is an International student
one has 45 days from the first day of classes to complete immunization
requirements.
