Distance Learning
The Media Services department helps to facilitate distance learning opportunities in a variety of ways.
Video Conferences:
LumiNet Synchronous Classes/Video Conferences: We are part of the Luminet Fiber Optic System which is run in conjunction with BOCES. Room 111 in Business Building is set up to send or receive conferences or classes. The Luminet System includes most area high schools, and also, several health care facilities and various New York State Community Colleges. Please call Media Services X-5004, We will put you in contact with the parties necessary to schedule a Luminet activity.
Satellite Programming:
We are able to receive programs on many satellites, both C Band and KU Band. We also are a part of the SUNY SAT system, and receive programming sent by the State University Network.
Teleconferences:
We have four rooms of various sizes which are linked to our Satellite receiving dish. If you wish to schedule a teleconference, please email or call Media Services at X-5004. We will check on satellite availability and assist in scheduling a room.
Requesting a teleconference form:
Media Services will respond to calls for assitance during the broadcast, make a recording of the teleconference if permitted, and monitor the satellite for trouble.
