Getting Started with Your Online Course

Welcome to the Online Academy at Broome Community College! During your online course, there will be activities you will need to participate in each week, so it is important to get started right away, at the beginning of the semester. Please take the time to read the section on How To Succeed In An Online Course.

Online courses do NOT meet on campus. It is up to you to go to a specific website to access your course. This website varies depending on whether you are taking a course offered on the WebCT or SUNY Learning Network (SLN) platform. If you aren't sure, check the course number:

• SUNY Learning Network courses have a Y designator, such as PSY110Y04.
• WebCT course have a K designator, such as PTA203K01.
• Video-Based courses have a Z designator, such as HIS170Z01. If the course has an online component, it will be offered through WebCT.

Depending on your course type, go to WebCT or SUNY Learning Network (SLN) for specific steps on how to test your computer, obtain a password, and access your course.
