Dr.
Laurence Spraggs To Host Graduation Ceremony Friday Evening

-1,032 Students Will Graduate As 2007 Semester Concludes-

(TOWN OF DICKINSON, NY) Broome Community College President Dr. Laurence Spraggs will host the spring 2007 graduation ceremony at 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 18, 2007 at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena, which is located in downtown Binghamton.

Joining Dr. Spraggs will be Broome County Executive Barbara J. Fiala, who will welcome students, as well as the College's Board of Trustees, local dignitaries from across the region, parents, family and friends of BCC’s 1,032 graduates. BCC Board Chair Joyce Majewski will officially begin the graduation ceremony with opening remarks to the community.  

”Graduation is an opportunity for students, their family members and friends to celebrate several year’s worth of commitment, dedication and sacrifice by graduates,” said President Dr. Laurence Spraggs. “A community’s greatest obligation is to develop and educate its young people in what is becoming a more difficult world swirling with diverse beliefs and philosophies. On Friday we will congratulate every student for meriting a College diploma, which will enable them to live a better life.”

Of the 1,032 graduates, 411(40 %) are male while 621 (60 %) are female. The ages of the graduates range from 18 to 62, with an average age of 26. Approximately 49% of the graduates are traditional, while 51% are non-traditional.

The most popular graduating major is Liberal Arts, Associate in Arts.
