(TOWN OF DICKINSON, NY) Broome Community College will announce the results of the auditions for “On the Quad” at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 2, 2007 in the Student Center Dining Hall.

A total of twenty-three students auditioned for a spot on “On the Quad” in front of a crowd of more than 300. Three men and three females have been selected each with unique backgrounds and perspectives. The six students will be introduced at the event.

“On the Quad” is a reality series that will be video pod cast on BCC iTunes U. The series will follow six BCC students through the fall 2007 semester. Each week students will talk candidly about their experiences, successes, failures, relationships and topics such as classes, teachers, student and campus life, friends, sports, etc. All auditions will be posted for viewing on BCC iTunes U.

“Originally we had planned to select only five students, but the student turnout and enthusiasm was extraordinary,” said Public Affairs Officer Richard David. “This reality series pod-cast will truly offer an in-depth look at what it’s like to be a student at Broome Community College, but will also focus on issues that students at any college can relate to.”

According to Apple there are approximately 500 public and private academic institutions that have received the iTunes U designation over the course of the last 5 years. Approximately 20 of these institutions are featured on Apple’s iTunes U web site because of their diverse variety of content. Broome Community College is the first and only Community College to be featured on this site.

Through iTunes U, BCC students and community members can access a variety of BCC lectures, classes, discussions, debates, video news releases, audio and video interviews with college faculty and staff, campus life activities, arts and musical performances, and so much more.

“On the Quad is the first full scale student related entertainment production that utilizes the technology and popularity offered through iTunes U,” continued David. “The fact that Apple continues to highlight BCC and so prominently on iTunes U underscores the quality of the digital media content the College is making available to potential and current students, faculty, staff and the community.”

iTunes U is a free, hosted service for colleges and universities that provides easy access to their educational content, including lectures and interviews, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Based on the same technology of the iTunes Stores, iTunes U also offers typical Apple simplicity and portability.

Through iTunes U, students can download content to their Macs or PCs, regardless of their location. They can listen to and view that content on their Mac or PC, or transfer it to an iPod for listening or viewing on the go.

BCC iTunes U can be accessed through www.sunybroome.edu.
