Broome Community College To
Host Giving Of The Toys Event Thursday

-Annual Event Benefits Toys for Tots-

(TOWN OF DICKINSON, NY) Broome Community College President Dr. Laurence Spraggs today announced the annual Giving of the Toys Event will take place at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 7, 2006 in the Student Center Dinning Hall.  

This event is BCC's way of getting ready for the holidays —more than 50 offices, departments, clubs, athletic teams, and campus organizations present toys to Santa at the Student Center and the gifts are then forwarded to the local Toys for Tots campaign.

One of the best aspects of the event in the past has been that each group has brought toys appropriate to the organization: the Finance Office has donated toy cash registers and calculators, the Basketball teams has given basketballs, Phi Theta Kappa has contributed books and games, and the Administration has brought puzzles, etc.

“This year we hope to make this year's event even bigger, because the need in our community is much bigger,” said BCC President Dr. Laurence Spraggs. “Many local families, friends, and co-workers, are still feeling the effects of the floods, and recent rains have made things worse.”

Hundreds of students and staff participate in the annual event.
