August 24, 2006 BCC To Host Family Day On Saturday; More -Event Provides Activities & Information For First Time Students & Parents- (TOWN OF DICKINSON, NY) Broome Community College President Dr. Laurence Spraggs today announced the College will host the 8th annual Family Day from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Saturday, August 26, 2006. More than 1,000 students and family members are scheduled to attend over the course of the day. “Family Day provides an opportunity for faculty and staff to meet students and their parents and give them a BCC orientation prior to the first day of classes,” said BCC President Dr. Laurence Spraggs. “The entire process of attending College for the first time can be overwhelming and stressful for students and parents. Our goal is to make first time students and parents as comfortable as possible by showing them all aspects of what takes place at BCC and what they can expect to see when school begins.” Schedule of Events: 9:30 a.m. - Dr. Spraggs will welcome attendees, and Director of Student Activities, David Maslar, will give an overview of the days activities. (West Gym) 10:00 a.m. - Concurrent Sessions: A. New Students: How to succeed in College (West Gym) B. Family Members: How to Support Your New College Student (Baldwin Gym) 11:00 a.m. - Ice Center tours, Club Booths, presentations on identification cards, parking permits |
