Broome Community College To
Host Merit Scholarship Event Tonight

-More than 200 Scholarship Awards To Be Presented-

(TOWN OF DICKINSON, NY) Broome Community College will host the annual Merit Scholarship Recognition Event at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, May 3, 2007 in the Student Center Lobby and Dining Hall.

The Presidential Scholarship and all other campus awards will be presented beginning at 6:00 p.m. Following the presentation, the students and their families will break up into four groups for divisional presentations in different locations around campus.

“The annual Merit Scholarship Recognition Event provides us with an opportunity to acknowledge the academic accomplishments of many of our students,” said BCC President Dr. Laurence Spraggs. “The scholarships would not be possible without the support of the Broome Community College Foundation, as well as several donors and organizations throughout the community. The event is also an opportunity to thank our many supporters and contributors who make it possible for so many of our students to receive scholarships, which allow them to continue in their academic careers.”

More than 200 students are the recipients of merit scholarships funded and coordinated through the BCC Foundation.

Many of the merit scholarships awarded are made possible by annual endowed gifts to the BCC Foundation from businesses, civic and professional organizations, local foundations and individuals. Additional scholarships are made possible through unrestricted gifts to the BCC Foundation.
