Creating a Course Syllabus

A syllabus is probably the most important document you'll share with students. It needs to be simple yet encompass everything essential about your course. There are many ideas about building a syllabus and the links below are just a sampling of what's on the Web.

You may also want to check with your department to see if there is a template or example for your use that provides continuity within the degree program.

Bloom's Taxonomy of Learning Objectives Benjamin Bloom and colleagues created a systematic classification system of educational objectives that many instructors find useful for organizing learning objectives within their courses. The link provided here gives examples of what learning objectives look like using Bloom's Taxonomy for the cognitive domain. This links to the National Teaching and Learning Forum.
