Social bookmarking takes this one step further, allowing you to share your bookmarks with others (with a selected few or with the entire Web). Many social bookmarking sites allow you to make notes about your bookmarks and "tag" (label) them. Public bookmark tags are often used by people to find others with similar interests.
For example, you have bookmarked several cooking sites. You "tag" these sites with the label "cooking" and share these publicly. Other people can search for the cooking tag and find your site. If you have your bookmarking area set up to do so, people can contact you to share their bookmarked sites or to communicate with you about cooking.
