Web 2.0 Tools for Everybody
|
What is Web 2.0?
Web 2.0 (generally pronounced "web-2-oh") is a group of Web tools (software) that is based on technology that allows users to electronically communicate and collaborate in a variety of ways: person-to-person, person-to-group, group-to-group, and group-to-person. The nature of Web 2.0 makes it possible for many of the tools to be independent of the type of hardware used, thus becoming ubiquitous in our culture. For example, you could watch a digital video on an iPod, cell phone, or home computer. Someone could find a great Website that they bookmark for themselves as well as for their classmates and instructor, which can be accessed from any computer connected to the Internet anywhere in the world.
If all this seems dizzying, don't worry. It's like learning to ride a bicycle - once you get the hang of it, it doesn't matter whether you've got training wheels or are on a 20-speed racing machine - just put your feet on the pedals and go!
