New Assistant Athletics Director

Broome Community College announces that Jon R. Smith has been appointed Assistant Athletics Director.

Mr. Smith will join the college on July 16, after spending many years in the Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Department at Lourdes Hospital as their certified athletic trainer. (The BCC position includes responsibility as Athletic Trainer.)

Smith will bring to his new position an extensive athletic training and athletic management experience including recent service at BCC and many years with the professional hockey organizations that were in Binghamton (the Whalers and the Rangers).

"Jon was filling in last semester after the Assistant's position became vacant. He proved to be enormously popular with our athletes and their coaches. We're fortunate that he decided to seek the position on a permanent basis," said Athletics Director Dan Minch.

Vice President for Student Affairs Charles Quagliata was also enthusiastic calling Smith "a key appointment in our Athletics program. Especially now as our program and our facilities grow and improve, Jon's expertise will be important."
