Placement TestsThe purpose of ACCUPLACER tests is to provide you with useful information about your academic skills in math, English, and reading. The results of the assessment, in conjunction with your academic background, goals, and interests, are used by academic advisors and counselors to determine your course selection. After completing the ACCUPLACER test and receiving your scores, you will meet with an advisor to discuss your results and plan your next steps. You can not "pass" or "fail" the placement tests, but it is very important that you do your very best on these tests so that you will have an accurate measure of your academic skills. Who takes ACCUPLACER tests?Placement testing is required of all entering matriculated students, both full-time and part-time, unless they have taken the ACCUPLACER test within the past three years, have transfer credits in college-level English and math, or have had the test waived by the Admissions Office, as designated in your acceptance letter from BCC. Special testing is available for students whose native language is not English. For more information contact the Admissions Office. Non-matriculated students who are taking courses for personal enrichment or career development are not required to take the placement tests, but are strongly encouraged to do so to facilitate advisement and enhance their chances for success. Students with Disabilities & ATB StudentsStudents requiring special accomodations, or students who do not have a high school diploma or GED, must take the placement test with the Student Support Services Office. For testing times and dates call 778- 5234.
