Assistant Professor Katherine Bacon holds a B.A. degree in Theater and English and an M.A. degree in theater, concentrating in directing, from the University of Maryland. Her training has included the influence of Peter Brook and Jerzy Grotowski and she was a member of Kim Stanley’s acting troupe in New York City in the 1980s. She considers Kim her primary teacher of acting (a biography will be released fall 2006 titled The Female Brando) and she teaches Method based acting. She also studied with Frank Corsaro, Stella Adler and John Strasberg, all members of the original Actor’s Studio. While living in New York City, Bacon also worked for HBO and US Magazine. After moving to the Binghamton area she worked for PBS and NPR (at WSKG) as a radio and television personality and television producer. Locally, she has performed as an actress for the Know Theater, the Cider Mill Playhouse and appears in cameo roles in BCC productions. She is a member of Actor’s Equity, AFTRA, American Federation of TV and Radio Artists and SAG, the Screen Actor’s Guild.
