ASCE Student Club
Joining the American Society of Civil Engineers Student Club at BCC is a great way to get to know your fellow students and to meet some of the Civil Engineering professionals in the local area.
Some of the activities in which the club members get involved include:
  • Designing and building a concrete canoe, to be raced at the annual ASCE Regional Concrete Canoe competition.
  • Community service projects where students apply their classroom skills to real life situations, such as working with Habitat for Humanity on a local project.
  • Field trips to engineering projects, some of which are still under construction and closed to outsiders.
  • Guest speakers from local engineering companies come to discuss some of the unique projects on which they are working. It's a great way to learn more about putting civil engineering to practice.
  • Attending monthly dinner meetings of the local chapter of ASCE. Another great way to make contacts with some of the local Civil Engineering professionals.
  • In addition, ASCE encourages student attendance at the ASCE Annual Convention and Workshops for Student Chapter Leaders
