Dotted among the hills surrounding Binghamton is the structural design work of another BCC graduate. John Harmon ’87 is the Engineering Manager for Beaver Mountain Log Homes in Deposit. He oversees the daily operations of the business, from designing houses, to product development, to financial aspects of the day-to-day operations. The company is responsible for manufacturing about 100 high-end, cedar-sided and log homes a year.

John began there as a draftsman, right out of the BCC Civil Engineering Department, and has worked his way up through the company with no additional college degree.

“I learned a ton at BCC,” John said. “There are really awesome teachers in the Civil Engineering Department.”
