The Educational Opportunity Program is designed to give access to NYS residents whose academic, educational, and economic circumstances have limited their post-secondary educational options. Program benefits include personal/academic advisement, remedial and developmental assistance, tutoring and supplemental economic aid.

Eligibility is based on guidelines established by the State University of New York and the State Education Department. You must complete the application process during your 1st semester since the program is not open to those with previous college experience.

Services
Academic support
Provided from the onset through orientation sessions for incoming freshmen, academic support is continued in the form of tutorial assistance coordinated by the Learning Assistance Center, success seminars for continuing students, peer support programming, and recognition for academic achievement.

Supplemental economic aid
Awarded as stipends to students demonstrating the greatest financial aid, as determined by Financial Aid Office.

Social support
EOP offers orientation sessions for incoming EOP students, promotes multicultural educational opportunities, and provides advocacy services for its students.

Strengthening Our Voices:

Claudia K. Clarke, EOP Director, attended the "Women as Leaders Conference 2001:Strengthening Our Voices," hosted by Binghamton University President Lois Defleur and BU's school of Education and Human Development. The evening was capped off by an appearance and presentation from Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.
