RDG 090 4 Class Hours
Reading Fundamentals Return to top

A non-credit, college preparatory course, to improve basic reading strategies and study skills. Emphasis placed upon academic skills of time management, notetaking, textbook study, test taking, memory and vocabulary development.

Prerequisite: Placement Test

 

RDG 092 4 Class Hours
College Preparatory Reading Return to top

A non-credit, college preparatory course which focuses on three broad areas of reading: vocabulary/word analysis, comprehension, and study skills. Emphasis placed upon applying reading skills to specific content areas.

RDG 094 2 Class Hours
College Vocabulary Skills Return to top

Designed to provide students with several methods of mastering vocabulary encountered in college courses.
Students will review dictionary skills. Learn to infer meanings from context, structural analysis, and methods of studying vocabulary for examinations. In-class practice will be designed to fit students’ individual needs.
2 Class Hours for 8 Weeks.

 

RDG 110 2 Class Hours
Efficient Reading Return to top

Development of skills characteristic of the mature reader. Examination of structure of material, emphasis on identification of purpose, flexibility of rate. 2 Class Hours for 10 Weeks; Course starts at beginning of third week of semester.

 

RDG 120 2 Class Hours
Critical Reading Return to top

Emphasis is on critical reading and thinking skills. Students will analyze and evaluate college level readings beyond the literal level. Critical thinking skills will also be applied to the mastery of content area text material.
