Medical Laboratory Technology at Broome Community College is a fully accredited, clinically-based curriculum leading to the Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree. Graduates of the program are immediately employable in medical, industrial, and research laboratories, and are automatically eligible to sit for national certification examinations.

Clinical training in hospital laboratories affiliated with the program provides hands-on experience as well as excellent training for immediate employment.

This accelerated "Fast Track" program allows qualifying students to earn an A.A.S. Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology in less than one year. The program combines distance (on-line) learning, hospital based practicums, and traditional classroom courses.

DO I QUALIFY?

To complete the Medical Laboratory Technology program within two semesters, entering students typically have earned a B.S. degree in biology, chemistry, or a related field. Their previous coursework should include completion (C or better) of the following courses or their equivalents:

  • Chemistry I and II / CHM145,146
  • College Writing I / ENG110
  • Statistics / MAT124

Students who lack the background described are still encouraged to apply. Missing qualifying coursework may be completed in the summer semester, in some cases, or by extending the term of study.
