Dissertation Research Fellowships

Fellowships are offered by the Institute, a not-for-profit agency affiliated with Broome Community College. The Institute was founded in 1983 to encourage research into questions related to the mission, financing, and outcomes of community colleges.

Appointment as a Dissertation Research Fellow of the Institute guarantees you the following:

1) Access to the college, selected records and services for the purpose of conducting your research.

2) Work space in the Institute's Special Collection room on the second floor of the Library or other appropriate space.

3) A prize upon presentation of a copy, suitable for binding, of your completed dissertation. (Amount will vary but will generally be around $1,000.)

In addition to this, the Institute would appreciate it if you would give a brief lecture on the results of your research to interested faculty and staff. The text of your remarks should be in acceptable form to allow publication as a Discussion Paper by the Institute. In lieu of this text, a summary report, a reprint of an article, or a portion of your dissertation may be submitted. Publication by the Institute does not constitute a copyright of the material by us.
