Accreditation:

BCC is supervised by the State University of New York (SUNY). Its curriculums are registered by the New York State Education Department and accredited, where appropriate, by specific discipline oriented accrediting organizations. The College is a member of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. The Chemical, Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Technology Programs are accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board For Engineering and Technology, Inc. (TAC/ABET).

Academic Calendar:

BCC has a semester calendar - Fall semester and Spring semester. Fall semester classes begin the last week of August and end in late December. Spring semester classes begin in Mid-January and end in late May. Academic courses are also offered during the summer. ESL classes are usually offered only during the Fall and Spring semesters. International students are accepted (and given an "I-20") to begin studies in the Fall and Spring semesters only.

Transfer Credit from Colleges and Universities in Other Countries:

BCC recognizes courses completed at colleges and universities in other countries. If you are seeking transfer credit earned from an educational institution outside the United States, you must submit an official evaluation of foreign educational credentials from an approved agency. Information on approved agencies is available from the International Student Admissions Office.

International Student Advising Office:

Our International Student Advising Office provides guidance and assistance to international students during their entire stay at the College. This office conducts a special international student orientation prior to the beginning of classes to help you plan your academic curriculum, become accustomed to the American educational system and adjust to living in our community. Our International Student Advisor is available to assist you with any academic, career, immigration or personal concerns you may have while a student at BCC.

Housing:

BCC does not have on-campus housing. However, apartments are readily available in our local community. Apartment rates are very affordable when compared to major U.S. cities. Our International Student Advising Office will help you locate an apartment.

BCC is easily accessible by an excellent local bus system. Most international students live within a short bus ride to campus. Home stays with American families are available, but on a limited, individual basis.

It has been our experience that international students enjoy living in our community, especially in regards to English language development and learning about the American culture. Our international students feel that the Binghamton area offers a variety of educational and cultural activities and is a safe place to live.

Student Health Services:

Our Student Health Services provides health services and counseling to all students. Professional staff includes a part-time physician, clinic nurse, and health educator. The Center has limited treatment at no cost to students and makes referrals to local
physicians, specialists, clinics and hospitals. The Center also assists international students with claims processing and information about student health insurance and optional sickness plans. Limited dental care services are available on campus through the Dental Hygiene Department’s Dental Hygiene Clinic.

International Student Association:

Most international students join our International Student Association. This student group plans a variety of cultural activities on campus and sponsors travel activities for international students such as trips to New York City, Washington, D.C. and Virginia
Beach.

Sports, Clubs and Campus Activities:

You are welcome to join any of the over 30 different campus clubs at BCC ranging from Student Government and professional affiliates to honor societies and social organizations.
