Welcome to Broome Community College, a great place to continue your education, and welcome specifically to the BCC website, a place where you can obtain answers to many of your questions about Broome Community College.

For the last sixty years, BCC has provided post-secondary educational opportunities to the residents of Broome County, surrounding counties, residents of other New York counties and even to students throughout the world. The College prides itself on the wide range and quality of its educational programs and experiences for students. BCC has been ranked number one among the thirty SUNY community colleges for the retention of students who continue their higher education at the four-year level. Innovation is evident throughout the College, as is the case, for example, of the institution’s affiliation with iTunes University and other technology-based and learning initiatives. Our purpose for being here, first and foremost, is to help students succeed academically and to enrich the communities we serve. By any reasonable standard, Broome Community College stands out as a first-rate institution.

I was honored and had the good fortune to be named in June, 2008, as Interim President of Broome Community College and to serve in that capacity until a new permanent President is named by the institution. Previously, I served more than fifteen years as President of another SUNY community college and on two occasions as a Chief Academic Officer of two Illinois community colleges. During the next six to twelve months, I hope to provide a stability of Presidential leadership the institution deserves, while striving to continue the College’s many broad initiatives in order to “set the stage” for incoming Presidential leadership.

As a student, prospective student, or community resident, you will no doubt find that Broome Community College is a friendly, caring place situated in a beautiful campus setting. Please feel free to stop by my office, or the offices of our Faculty, Staff, and Administration, in order that we can become better acquainted.

Sincerely,

Dr. Daniel T. Hayes
