Announcement from Chair of Board to Broome Community College
To: Broome Community College
From: Robert Moppert, Chair, Board of Trustees
Date: June 11, 2009
Subject: Broome Community College Presidential Search Extended
On behalf of the Broome Community College Board of Trustees, we are pleased to share with you the decision that the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) will be helping the Board in its extended search with recruitment for the next president of Broome Community College. This will be a national search and will draw on the expertise of ACCT.
The selection of a president is one of the most important decisions the Board makes and it will decide the direction of the College for years to come. The Board is committed to conducting an equitable, fair, inclusive and national search that will attract a strong pool of presidential candidates.
Search Committee
I want to take this opportunity to thank all the members of the Search Committee for their commitment and hard work during the initial phase of the presidential search. The Search Committee will continue to work on this search process with trustees Ms. Joyce Majewski and Dr. Angelo Mastrangelo serving as co-chairs. We understand that all committee members may not be able to make the necessary time commitment to continue serving on the committee. Should vacancies occur, we will take the necessary steps to ensure that the committee is inclusive and representative of the College. We have asked Patricia O’Day, Secretary to the President, the President’s Office, to work with ACCT as Search Liaison.
Communication
The Board is committed to keeping the college community informed by distributing regular progress reports, posting information on the College’s web site, and making formal reports during regular meetings of the Board. Please consult the College’s web site for updates at http://www.sunybroome.edu/.
If you have any questions about the process, please be in touch with ACCT Search consultant Dr. Narcisa Polonio, npolonio@acct.org or mobile 202-276-1983; or with Carole Kraemer, ckraemer@acct.org or 202-775-4468.
