| A Fire Protection Technology certificate is available to students
who complete a predetermined selection of courses on this page. Please contact
the program coordinator for more information. Students should check with
their advisors during the scheduling process to make sure courses are taken
in proper sequence and any prerequisites have been met. Some flexibility
is available as to when courses must be taken, but not all courses are offered
every semester.
This program is open to both paid and volunteer fire fighters of the community, as well as those persons in related firematic areas. SUGGESTED SEQUENCE FOR FULL-TIME STUDENTS: Students may select courses from any of the categories, but it is suggested that these sequences be followed to ensure that the proper prerequisites have been completed. |

| After BCC then what? | |||
| The Fire Protection Technology program serves primarily people
who are already employed by municipal and volunteer fire companies.
Professional fire departments accept employees from lists of those passing various municipal exams. Volunteer companies accept individuals according to their own selection criteria. Students are advised to contact a company directly. Employment opportunities also exist in many private sector business and industrial institutions. The program at BCC can be used as a basis for successful competition on municipal exams, volunteer fire company applications, and entry into a variety of industrial settings. Students are encouraged to meet with the Fire Protection Technology coordinator to chart programs that best meet their goals. |
