| Liberal Arts: Individual Studies | |||
| Associate in Science (AS) or Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree | |||
|
Students whose academic goals cannot be met through existing programs may be allowed to structure individualized degree programs. Qualified students develop, with an advisor, an "area of concentration." This area of concentration must be a cohesive program of study clearly related to employment or upper division academic goals. Completion of the Individual Studies Program can lead to an Associate in Science (AS) or Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree, depending upon the student's area of concentration. The AS degree program is designed for baccalaureate transfer, and the AAS degree for immediate employment. Admission into the program requires the student to develop a Plan of Studies which is approved by the program coordinator. This is not a program for students unsure of their goals or simply exploring several areas of study. |

| After BCC… then what? | |||
|
Students who have earned A.A. or A.S. degrees at Broome Community College and who intend to go on for baccalaureate degrees are guaranteed transfer to a four-year college or university within the State University of New York (SUNY) system. Students are urged to consult with advisors about their transfer plans, and to review program requirements at the institution(s) to which they might transfer. The Liberal Arts and Human Services Division also has guaranteed transfer arrangements with other colleges outside the SUNY system. |
