Society of Manufacturing Engineers

Broome Community College and the Mechanical Technology Department support Student Chapter S040 of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME). Students in the Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) or Industrial Technology:Mechanical / CADCAM (ITMT) programs have an opportunity to become members of a premier group of manufacturing professionals from around the world, with access to the industry's leading resources.

As members of SME, students take tours of local industry, listen to practicing engineers speak on campus, become involved in community activities, and interact with fellow students. In addition, members may be eligible for annual scholarships.
