SUNY Broome's Language and Cultural Exchange Club

people around globeAre you interested in learning about another culture? Would you like to enhance your speaking abilities in another language? Would you like to be part of an international community right here at Broome Community College? Would you like to join us on club trips? Past trips have included NYC and Boston.

If so, the LINGONET Club may be for you! Lingonet is our language and cultural exchange club here at BCC!

Students whose first language is not English (ESL) are paired up with BCC native English speaking partners. The club has 2 purposes:

  1. To give ESL students an opportunity to practice their English speaking skills, as well as to learn more about the American and college culture.
  2. To give American/English speaking students an opportunity to interact and speak with students from another country/culture thereby expanding their cultural awareness and foreign language skills.

Opportunities are available for both groups of students! Click here for an application or stop by the LEARNING ASSISTANCE DEPARTMENT Welcome desk, Library lobby.

There is only a 1 hour commitment per week with your partner as well as 1 meeting a month with the whole club!
