Part of the Liberal Arts: General Studies A.S.
For over 35 years Broome Community College Theater has been training students for a life in the performing arts. Here you can study with distinguished faculty who are seasoned professionals in their area of expertise. The actor training is Stanislavski-based and includes opportunities to study directing, playwriting, stage managing, costuming, scenic design, set construction, sound and lighting design. The Associate of Science degree focuses on theater within the context of a liberal arts education. We give students a solid foundation for transfer to 4 year colleges, conservatory theater schools or to work immediately in the industry.
Your studies will include courses in Acting I, II and III, Acting for the Camera, Oral Interpretation, Theater history, Theater Appreciation, Rehearsal and Performance for the Stage and Announcing for TV & Radio. Our productions are noted for their high quality and ambitiousness, with an emphasis on the classics and rigorous training. BCC's theater students leave with solid skills and an honest view of themselves as actors or theater professionals. BCC graduates are well placed in academic theater programs throughout the country and are working in the professional world in New York and LA.
