Decker Health Sciences Center

The newest building on the BCC Campus (for a while, anyway), the Decker Health Science Center is home to all of the health-related curricula offered at our community college. There are six multi-media equipped classrooms, three fully equipped x-ray laboratories, a physical therapy assistant lab, two medical technology laboratories, laboratories for nursing courses, and a fully equipped dental hygiene laboratory which offers its services to the community. If you enter our campus from the south, via South Campus Drive (at the traffic light), the Decker building is the closest building to you off the large student parking lot.

Classes were held in the building beginning in January of 1998, although a few of the disciplines had to wait until their respective areas were finished before completely moving in. The latest to move in was the Paramedic/EMT training, which is run in conjunction with Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and had been housed in the hospital facitilies until recently.

My particular area of the building is the Study Center at the extreme east end on the second floor (room 226 and the two computer labs adjoining). It is a lounge for the students to spend some time studying or discussing group projects, watching interactive laser disks or videos, or logging onto one of the lab computers for word processing or research.
