Top 30 Things You Can Do To Support Your Alma Mater

1. Make an annual gift

2. Ask if the business or company you work for would be willing to hire one or more summer interns from BCC or provide service learning opportunities for students.

3. Invite all the graduates in your major (e.g. history), as well as the professors to an afternoon get together.

4. Encourage your neighbors' and friends' children to consider applying for admission to BCC.

5. Get a small group of friends from college and ask if they might be willing to make an annual joint gift to your college to support a favorite activity.

6. Donate a tree or other outdoor bushes and plants that can improve the image of the campus.

7. Ask if the company or business you work for may be willing to donate needed new or used equipment to your college.

8. Volunteer to come to campus and make a presentation before an appropriate class.

9. Ask if your company or business woul d consider making an annual gift to your college in support of an area of study of direct interest to the company.

10. Volunteer to become a mentor to one or more students in an area of professional expertise.

11. If you live in a major metropolitan area outside of Binghamton, volunteer to coordinate alumni activities in that area.

12. Help with campus tours.

13. Organize a group of fellow graduates to contact state and federal legislators about the need for supporting public higher education at BCC.

14. Ask if there are students who may need tutoring.

15. Lead a small fundraising effort for your favorite academic department or division of BCC.

21. Organize an alumni club at your workplace if there are several graduates of BCC.

22. Keep the college updated with your address, e-mail, phone number and personal successes.

23. Wear the black and gold school colors; wear clothing imprinted with BCC to community events.

24. Participate in the insurance programs sponsored by the BCC Alumni Association.

25. Volunteer to be a liaison between the BCC admission office and the local high school guidance office.

26. Name Broome Community College in your will.

27. Participate in alumni surveys and feedback opportunities.

28. Volunteer to serve on a committee or on the board of the Alumni Association.

29. Attend college functions, alumni programs and college reunions.
