| Frequently Asked Questions |
- Will there be an orientation available for students who have never used a computer before?
The Banner project is not related to orientation for students for campus computing. However, we will provide instructional web pages and handouts for the portions of Banner that students will need to access, such as grades
- Would there be a need for an alternative Band width since BANNER is web-based?
Since Banner will be used exclusively from on campus, there will be no effect on external bandwidth. While there will be an effect on internal bandwidth, we have been planning and upgrading to accommodate these changes for some time, including new switches, cabling, etc. We will continue to monitor the network for increased traffic, and adjust our infrastructure as necessary.
- Will bookstore imformation, such as the price of a text on how many copies of a lab manual that are still available, be accessible through BANNER?
- What would be the associated concerns, security measures, cost, etc. if such a Band width was needed?
- How much information currently on BASIS will be transferred to BANNER?
Although it is early in the planning process for the migration of Student records, we currently hope to be able to transfer all student related records in BASIS to Banner.

For purchasing contacts and purchasing approvers, you should expect to spend about 3 hours in Banner training.
- Could a record be created of when faculty and staff have taken training sessions at the TRC so that individual professional developement can be tracked?
- Could a screen be created in order to view faculty in "block schedule"?
- In quick flow, can a department create its own form in order to import/export forms that are not in FRS,BASIS ?
No, the Banner quick flows are meant to help accommodate your most common tasks in Banner that are performed over several Banner forms. Once set up, a quick flow will take you to each form sequentially without having to navigate to each form one at a time. Quick flows do not support non-Banner forms.
- Is it possible to do Faculty and Temp Staffing Contracts, timesheets, and sick-time reports online?
We currently plan to allow sick reports and timesheets to be entered using Banner Self-Service starting in 2009 through a phased implementation. More information will be forthcoming. Online Adjunct Faculty Contracts are a feature of Banner 8, and would not be available until after the Student Go-Live in Fall 2010.

- Using BANNER, how will attendence actually be taken?
