The AAS in Financial Services prepares graduates for immediate employment in the
financial services industry in such areas as commercial loan underwriting, bank and credit
union management, investment management, benefits management, personal loan underwriting,
stockbrokerage, financial planning, accounting, insurance or real estate. Graduates are
prepared to take the NYS licensing exams in life, accident and health insurance and the Series
6 & 63 licensing exams.
Careers and Job Outlook for Financial Services Graduates
The New York State Department of Labor ranks personal financial planning as
one of the top 25 fastest growing occupations in the state with a projected 32.7%
increase in employment openings through the year 2012. New York also projects a
15.6% increase in openings for financial services sales agents and a 13.6%
increase in openings for loan officers. Due to the diverse nature of the careers
