Transfer Opportunities

Binghamton University - About a third of our graduates attend BU for Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. A few also take additional courses in Computer Science here for a "Computer Engineering" minor. Joint admissions agreement.

Buffalo University - A significant number of our graduates attend this excellent engineering school every year. Dual admissions agreement with Buffalo is available.

Clarkson University - Clarkson, considered one of the best engineering schools, attracts many of our graduates every year. Although its tuition is on a par with that of other private schools, Clarkson is quite competitive in offering scholarships and other aid. BCC has a general articulation agreement for all engineering disciplines, as well as a specific agreement for Engineering Management (similar to Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering in some schools). An MBA is available with the investment of an additional year. Clarkson's Center for Advanced Materials Processing (CAMP) is one of 13 such high-tech sites in the State.

Cornell University - Some of our best students transfer to Cornell

New Mexico Tech - A couple of our students transferred there a few years ago. Ever since, they have aggressively pursued our students, even offering to forgive the out-of-state tuition difference!

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) - Our graduates regularly attend RPI for most engineering fields. Articulation agreement. A few have attended for Biomedical Engineering. Several have continued here for advanced degrees.

Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) - A good number of our graduates attend RIT. Some receive considerable financial assistance. In 1997, for example, Josh Eckler won $17,000 of scholarships from RIT, partly through a competitive exam.

Virginia Tech - Several of our students have attended this excellent engineering school, possibly fed up with Binghamton weather?

Wilkes University (PA) - most engineering fields, but especially Materials Engineering. Articulation agreement.

Approximately 90% of our Engineering Science students transfer to Binghamton University, Clarkson University, Buffalo University, RPI and RIT. The remainder go many diverse places; in addition to those listed above, students are now attending or have graduated from SUNY College of Environmental Science & Forestry, Syracuse University, SUNY Maritime College (Naval Architecture), SUNY Fredonia (Business), University of Arizona, Georgia Tech, Texas University, Union College, Alfred University, Yale , Penn State and Carnegie-Mellon. Another former student who chose to study medicine in graduate school is now a cardiac surgeon.

TYESA - the Two Year Engineering Science Association - TYESA meets yearly with the four year college deans of engineering to make sure that transfer from two to four year institutions is made as smooth as possible. BCC's Engineering Science Department is a member of TYESA, which has an articulation agreement with all four year member schools (the Association of Engineering Colleges of New York State). As mentioned above and elsewhere, BCC also has specific articulation, joint, and dual transfer agreements with many additional colleges and universities.
