The BCC Faculty Association Scholarship


The Broome Community College Faculty Association, in its continuing efforts to encourage
student achievement, is proud to announce its 1997 Scholarship Award. The award will go
to a qualified, full-time, matriculated BCC student to be used for his or her senior year at
BCC. The amount of the award will be approximately $2000, or an amount sufficient to
cover one year's tuition and expenses. Students will apply or be nominated during the Spring
term of their Freshman year. All students who meet the award criteria, including students in
both transfer and technical degree programs, are encouraged to apply.

CRITERIA:
* Full-time, matriculated BCC student,
* Two (2) Faculty recommendations, at least one from the candidates degree area,
* G.P.A. of 3.5 or above,
* Intent to graduate by May 1998,
* Contributions to the campus and community,
* Proficient written communication skills.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
* A statement indicating the applicant's intent to graduate by May 1998,
* Letter of recommendation from two faculty/staff members,
* Letter(s) of verification regarding campus and community contributions,
* An informal essay of not more than 500 words. Content of the essay is on
the scholarship application.
* Transcripts from colleges other than BCC, if applicable.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
* Application deadline is May 1, 1997.
* Application forms will be available on February 24,1997 and can be obtained
from the Division Offices: Liberal Arts, Business, and Applied Sciences.
