LEARNING DISABILITIES SPECIALIST
Broome Community College seeks a part-time Learning Disabilities Specialist to work in its Learning Assistance Department starting August 2008. The successful candidate will collaborate with the Learning Disabilities Coordinator to address the needs of students with learning disabilities and/or attention deficit disorders eligible for support in the Learning Disabilities Program. Responsibilities include the administration of psycho educational tests, review and interpretation of psychological test reports, and determination of appropriate academic support based on review. The candidate will work directly with students to assess needs and establish and monitor support. Strong interpersonal and communicative skills are essential. Minimum requirements include a master's degree in special education, reading, or learning disabilities and a minimum of three years teaching experience with LD or ADD/ADHD students. Graduate level training in educational assessment and a background in diagnostic decision-making is required. Anticipated 20-22 hours per week fall and spring terms at an hourly rate of $21.63.
