Access and Borrowing

The BCC ID Card is the library card for students, faculty and staff. Both full- and part-time students, faculty, and staff can obtain this photo ID at the Student Activities (Science 106). No library materials will be checked out to a student, faculty, or staff without a valid BCC ID Card.

We welcome community residents to the College library and invite them to use our collections. They can obtain a library card at the library circulation desk after showing some form of picture ID preferably a driver’s license.

Circulating Books

Books circulate for three weeks. One renewal can be made prior to the due date unless another patron has requested the book. Renewals can be made at the circulation desk or over the phone.

Reserve Materials

This service provides books; articles or other readings, videos, and materials faculty wish to make available to students enrolled in their courses. Reserve materials may be checked out at the library circulation desk for use in the library for a two-hour period. Some reserve materials may be borrowed for up to one week. A BCC ID card is required for this transaction.

Reserve materials are included in a separate database within the library's online catalog. Search by course number (e.g. SOCI 101), instructor's name or title.

Periodicals

Magazines, journals, and newspapers must be used in the library.

Laptop Computers

The BCC Library provides wireless laptop computers for student, faculty and staff use in the Library. Laptops may be borrowed from the circulation desk after completing a borrowers agreement and presenting a valid BCC ID.

Fines

Overdue notices are sent when materials are overdue. If materials are not returned within a reasonable amount of time, the account will be turned over to a collection agency and a $20.00 collection fee will be charged. A hold will be placed on the student’s account until the material and the collection fee has been paid. Students who’s accounts are placed on hold will be unable to register for classes or request transcripts.
