Broome Community College President Dr. Laurence Spraggs
 To Host Spring Faculty/Staff Convocation Thursday Morning

-Dr. Spraggs Will Present New Initiatives, Deliver Overview Of College & Present Plans For The Future-

(TOWN OF DICKINSON, NY) Broome Community College President Dr. Laurence Spraggs will host the fall faculty/staff convocation at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, January 11, 2007 in the dining hall, which is located in the Student Center. (Media note: The event is scheduled to last approximately one-hour, and interviews are available before and after the Convocation)

The convocation is an opportunity to welcome new faculty and staff as well as highlight plans and initiatives for the upcoming semester. Dr. Spraggs will discuss increasing enrollment, the College’s new Master Plan, new marketing strategies and organizational changes. Dr. Spraggs will provide an update on the status of the Communications and Technologies building.

“The College administration has been extremely busy over the winter break bringing current initiatives to fruition and implementing new programs;” said Dr. Spraggs. “Now that we have secured funding to begin the design and construction of the new Communications and Technology facility the College we are focusing on a diverse range of additional academic, programmatic and structural initiatives that will allow BCC to continue to provide the highest caliber of education at an affordable cost.”

Approximately 300 faculty and staff attend the convocation, which signifies the unofficial start to each semester. President Spraggs will welcome and introduce 23 new employees, and will also discuss a range of academic programs, student activities and provide an update of various infrastructure projects.  

“Academic institutions provide a significant educational and economic presence to our region,” continued Dr. Spraggs. “BCC will continue to work with local leaders to play this role in the Southern Tier. I’m confident there are great opportunities for the future.”
