May 22, 2007 BCC Introduces Interactive Video Web Link To Give -Experience BCC Site Includes Video Testimonial From Current Students- (TOWN OF DICKINSON, NY) Broome Community College today unveiled a new way for perspective students to check out student life through their home computers. The College’s new “Experience BCC” site includes video testimonials from students who share their experiences about BCC. “The College currently has an excellent website that provides a great deal of technical information about how to register, what classes are offered, how to obtain financial aid, etc.” said Vice President of Student Affairs, Dr. Rebecca Ashford. “However the website doesn’t answer basic questions prospective students might have about their first days in college such as will they will fit in, will they make friends, where to go to have fun, what are teachers like, etc. The interactive web site allows perspective applicants to hear from current students who have already gone through the first few weeks of classes and find out what those experiences were like.” The Experience BCC link is the first in a series of new technology based initiatives the college will be unveiling in the next few months. “Technology is playing a much larger role in the lives of young adults,” said BCC President Dr. Spraggs. “With the advent of the I-Pod, high tech cell phones, the Internet and text messaging there are multiple new mediums to communicate with perspective students. It’s important to identify as many opportunities as possible to highlight and communicate the many wonderful academic programs, activities and student life at BCC. Prospective students will now have a new way to learn about what College life at BCC is all about.” The video testimonials can be accessed through www.sunybroom.edu.
