BCC Announces New Board Of Trustees Chair And Vice Chair

-Bob Moppert & Dr. Angelo Mastrangelo Will Serve In Top Elected Positions

(TOWN OF DICKINSON, NY) The Broome Community College Board of Trustees has elected Robert J. Moppert as Chairperson and Dr. Angelo Mastrangelo as Vice-Chairperson for 2007-2008. The election took place at the September meeting.

Robert J. Moppert recently retired as Regional Director of the New York State Department of Economic Development, and has been a small business entrepreneur in the area for many years. He is also a former County Legislator.  “I’m a graduate of BCC,” said Moppert. “I am deeply honored to serve as Chair of the Board of Trustees and look forward to working with fellow Members, faculty and staff and the entire College to identify new ways to improve one of our regions most significant institutions. BCC gave me so much when I was a student there and I’m looking forward to continue giving back at Chair.”

Dr. Angelo Mastrangelo is a professor at Binghamton University. He, and with his wife Kathleen, are the former owners of the Adirondack Soft Drink Company. Dr. Mastrangelo founded the entrepreneurship program at BU’s School of Management, where he taught leadership skills. Dr. Mastrangelo also founded the Students in Free Enterprise Club. Dr. Mastrangelo is a former student from Broome and says what he learned at BCC was instrumental to his success in business.

"I am extremely honored to have been elected Vice-Chairperson of the Board," said Mastrangelo. "The Board in conjunction with the administration, faculty and staff has accomplished a great deal over the course of the last year. I'm excited to have the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to an academic institution that plays such a key role in shaping future generations of students."

Each year at the September meeting the Board elects a slate of officers for the next year. Both Moppert and Mastrangelo will serve one year terms that expire in September 2008.
