Getting Results:
Effective Classroom Practice
Getting Results is designed for community college instructors and is focused on effective classroom practice.

The course is divided into modules on a particular topic, such as "Creating a Community of Learners," "Planning for Outcomes," "Active Teaching and Learning" and more.

Each module contains a short video of real instructors and students in a classroom setting talking about what they do and why they do it, as well as questions, presentations, and documents that support the module's topic.

Based on work conducted under a grant by the National Science Foundation and produced by WGBH Boston, the original intended audience was STEM faculty. However, all faculty will find these modules useful in creating the kind of classroom environment that fosters learning.

An interesting mini-workshop series from the University of Minnesota on getting the most out of your lecture time with students. It's chocked full of goodies.

Activities and Exercises MERLOT (Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching) - peer reviewed online teaching and learning materials.

While MERLOT is a repository for materials that are directly applicable to the online environment, some of the activities and exercises are adaptable to the in-person and blended classroom settings.

MERLOT is also an online meeting place for instructors in the various disciplines to share ideas on implementing activities and using materials (think of it as a conference you can go to wearing pajamas). You will also find an online expert guest/speakers' bureau.

If you are looking for professional development opportunities and/or recognition by your peers, MERLOT accepts materials to be shared with the MERLOT community. Submitted materials are peer-reviewed (MERLOT is always looking for additional peer reviewers in various disciplines, too!).
