Broome Community College provides an International Student Orientation program in the Fall and Spring semesters to welcome new international students and prepare you properly for the semester. Orientation is NOT optional. Your arrival date on your I-20 is designed for you to arrive in time for orientation to allow you to be registered and find housing in time for the semester to begin. It is essential that you arrive in time for orientation.
During orientation, you will be required to take your English and Math Placement Tests. These tests are required to register for classes.
Orientation will address a variety of topics such as:
Spring orientation is a two day orientation that begins a week before classes. The Fall orientation is four-five days and begins one and a half weeks before classes begin. The difference in length and timing is based on the size of the incoming class and limited time for arrival after the holidays.
For a current schedule of Spring 2014 orientation, click here. The schedule may be changed but those changes will be announced at orientation.Orientation for Spring 2014 is January 15th - January 21st, so students should plan to arrive no later than January 14th.
Health Science students may have an orientation program for their academic department IN ADDITION to the International Student Orientation requirement.
